How Children Can Use the App
Unlike other music learning applications, Fly Robin Fly’s learning methodology is based on emotional engagement. Numerous studies show that emotion has a substantial influence on the cognitive processes, including perception, attention, learning, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving. Being the application's highest priority, emotional engagement is intimately linked to the effectiveness of learning processes. In order to achieve such engagement, the application gamifies the process of studying music. In such a way, Fly Robin Fly transforms boring mechanical repetition of notes and chord progressions into a conscious and amusing process and creates an emotional stimulus for the user. For this reason, information that is related to or associated with music learning is perceived and processed easier. Read more...
Who it is for
Although Fly Robin Fly application can be used by people of any age, we assume it to be most attractive for younger people and music teachers for all ages (firstly, school students studying music and youth with cognitive disorders). Early toddlers and special needs children of all ages will specifically benefit, as the application educational methodology is based on building a strong emotional connection between the particular sound and the image.
EARLY TODDLERS
While Fly Robin Fly probably cannot fully supersede academic music education, it may become a core part of musical training for children of pre-school / kindergarten age (including those getting ready for more profound music education).
Fly Robin Fly’s innovative approach allows children to master the basic musical skills like distinguishing sounds and notes, remembering the connection between the visual signs and sounds, complex patterns of sounds and images, etc. Moreover, such training is good for general cognitive development and allows for memory improvement, complex problem solving and logical reasoning.
MUSIC TEACHERS
Just like any other scientific discipline, playing and understanding music demands certain skills that are usually acquired by numerous repetitions of some action or a pattern of actions (for instance, a sequence of notes). That process may be unpleasant – especially for modern children, who, as studies show, tend to experience difficulties with concentration on one single activity for a long time. Fly Robin Fly solves that problem by transforming that educational drilling into a game. The effectiveness of educational games is determined by the fact that the individual is engaging in the activity by choice, which makes the process of learning more effective and, simultaneously, joyful. Importantly, some research on the correlation between music and general academic performance highlight that musical engagement positively influences self-esteem, motivation, and ability to deal with stress
SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
The main obstacle for special needs children is traditional music notation, which is too complex, awkward and counterintuitive. They have a strong demand for an alternative tool for learning music.
Fly Robin Fly will:
-
opens access to music for these individuals
-
be used as a part of cognitive disorders treatment. Studies show that learning music has the potential effects to reduce cognitive decline, improve neuropsychiatric symptoms, and enhance the quality of life

Research on the Benefits of Learning Music
Music training improves
attention and memory

A Stanford study, "A little goes a long way: How the Adult Brain Is Shaped by Musical Training in Childhood" showed that music engages areas of the brain which are involved with paying attention, making predictions and updating events in memory.
Music helps build communication and social skills

Music activities and improvisation promote better communication and social skills in children who have limited opportunities, according to research published in the Journal of Music Therapy, "Evaluation of a Music Therapy Social Skills Development Program for Youth with Limited Resources."
Music activities help individuals with cognitive disorders
Multiple studies published in Frontiers in Psychology and Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience indicate that musical training improves communication, social-emotional, and motor development in children with disorders such as Dyslexia and Autism.
